Gimp Curves III by SilaynneStock Gimp Curves III by SilaynneStock
Click download to get the actions.

Unzip them into local disk/documents and settings/your username/gimp/curves

You don't have to ask my permission to use them. Crediting me would be nice.

Edit://
It seems that these might not work with every version of Gimp. I have Gimp version 2.4, so if you have any other, these curves might not show up.
Sorry, I have no idea how to solve this problem or if that's even possible.

If you're having difficulty knowing what to do with this file, unzip with 7zip utility and extract to wherever you want. In GIMP 2.8.x, go to Colors-->curves, then click on the little arrow at the right to find the import option. If you want to keep that preset, just click on "save to presets".  Thanks for creating these. I'm not finding x4 in this folder, but it could be a corrupted file. I will use one or two of them in some portrait work I'm doing.

I have (frensh^^) gimp 2.6 and I do that :
Open gimp.
Go in "colors" > curves > click on the arrow at the top of the window, in
side of preselection and the "+" > import parameters > choose x or x1 or x2 etc... register your parameters & voila !

Script Installation

Installation is as simple as dragging and dropping (or cutting and pasting) the .SCM files into the GIMP 2.4 scripts directory. In Windows, the proper directory should be in Program Files > GIMP-2.4 > share > gimp > 2.0 > scripts. Either start/restart GIMP or refresh the script list by selecting Xtns > Script-Fu > Refresh Scripts in the Toolbox.

If you do not already have a Script-Fu menu, one will be automatically generated when the scripts are refreshed or GIMP restarted. All of my GIMP Scripts are located in a sub-menu named Actions. The Reminisce scripts are further contained within their own sub-menu under Color Effects to better keep the menu uncluttered if you have downloaded my other effects packs.

{ Back to Top }

How to Use

Open up an image you wish to edit. Flatten or merge layers for best results if working with an image that already has multiple layers. Go to Script-Fu > Actions > Color Effects > Reminisce and select the desired colour effect. Refer to the included preview image for specific effects.

The script will take a moment as the layers are added. The image can be further adjusted by lessening/strengthening the Opacity of each layer.

Combining Scripts

It is possible to "stack" scripts to amplify the effects. After running a colour effect script—preferably on a single layer image—select the Background, or bottom layer and run the second script.

For example, take a photograph and run the Remisce Overcast script. The script produces eight additional layers on top of the Background for a total of nine. Select the Background layer and run Reminisce Dawn. The image now has a lot of layers and a mixed effect.

Combining scripts isn't really recommended since it creates a whole mess of layers, but it can be fun and produce unexpected results.

These aren't scm files. They are curves presets. You need to load them in the curves dialog.

I'm very uneducated about these things! When I click download no matter whether I choose the Save or Find option I don't know what to do after that. I'm unsure how to open a RAR file, but I really want these actions. Can anyone walk me through this? haha

thanks for the curves they are nice

For those who the curve does not work (on linux) just convert them into linux format files!
dos2unix <the file>
and then it work well, no error messages ;)

NOTE: it might be the same for MAC you need to convert this DOS format! or just copy past the text into a new text file!

Works perfectly for me and I do have 2.6. There is a little arrow button next to the + button in the setting window for curves, choose import from files and voila: there are the actions. Thanks so much Silaynne!

*sad face*
I just realized what Gimp was... hahahahaha- obviously why it wouldn't open on PSC4. Duh.
Would it be too much to ask to have a quick tutorial on how to play with curves.
These are just beautiful- I'm SO frustrated I can't use them. *sighs*

I got these to work on 2.6 finally on Mac OS.
Something about the coding or the particular text file provided an error.
So I cut and pasted all but the last part of the code (which I just re-typed) into another text file and then it was happy, no error.

Hi I had massive issues because I didn't realise a .rar was a zipped file.
You need to unzip first:

Info for PC and mac.

However, now that I have them loaded and can see them in Gimp, an error shows. Gonna try someone else's recoding suggestion to see if that fixes it.

Hope I can get them to work, they are stunning!
Thanks!

Open your picture. From the menu, select colors - curves. A new window opens. There's a box named "open". Click on it. It should show the curves folder and your curves should be in there.
If you still can't get them to work, then the problem might be in you having Gimp version 2.6 and I having version 2.4. Sometimes curves made with different version don't show up in Gimp. :/

Hm, if you open a new picture and select from menu 'colors - curves - open', then they should be listed there.

There's also a possibility that if you have other version than Gimp 2.4 (which I have), they might not work. I haven't checked it myself, but some people have been having troubles with it.
